Philippe Leclerc

Tenor & soprano saxophones

Born in 1961, he studies saxophones in the class of Hubert Prati at the Conservatoire National de Région of Metz from 1978 to 1985. Then he studies in the Jazz-Class of Bernard Struber at the Conservatoire National de Région of Strasbourg from 1991 to 1995, when he also go at Berklee School of Music workshop in Boston (USA).

From 1985 to 1995, he participates in several recordings with bands like Afrodisax, the Metz Saxophone Octuor, the Doukali trio, and particularly Virage Vanguard with who he wins the Special Prize of the Jury at the Avignon Jazz Contest.

In the same time (1985/2005) he collaborates in several jazz projects like the
Big Band Master Piece of Laurent Gianez, the ORJA (Regional Orchestra of Jazz of Alsace of Bernard Struber, the group previously quoted Virage Vanguard, the quartet of the trombonist Yves Robert, the groups of Bireli Lagrène, Jacques Di Donato, Frank Tortiller, Manu Codjia, Franck Agulhon, Philippe Geiss, Shake Orchestra (Orchestra Regional of Jazz in Lorraine), Joe Krenker & Fawzy Al Aedy (group "Format"), Daniel Visani. In particular, he occurred in Berlin, Paris (Sunset, Duc of Lombards), Toulouse, Strasbourg (Musica, Jazz of gold, South Pole), Metz (Trinitaires), Nancy (Festival Emil 13), like in the majority of the festivals, clubs and concert halls of the hexagon and the large towns of Europe.

In 1998, he rejoins Briegel Bros Band, takes part to the recording of "Détours" their second album published in 1999, to their third album "Co'Errances" recorded in spring 2006 and to all the concerts of the group through Europe and Japan until his untimely disappearance on June 17, 2006.
